Challenge

With over 10% of its 8,400-strong bus fleet already electrified, Stagecoach is one of the UK’s most advanced EV fleet operators. 

While electrification reduces fuel costs and emissions, rising electricity prices and exposure to volatile energy markets introduced new risks and complexity, particularly across multiple depots with differing infrastructure and load constraints. 

Stagecoach needed to:

Building on earlier charging infrastructure partnerships, Stagecoach expanded its collaboration with VEV to include energy procurement and optimisation. 

Using VEV IQ, the fleet benefits from dynamic scheduling, intelligent load control and real-time visibility, enabling lower charging costs while maintaining strict operational constraints. 

The result is a commercially optimised electrification strategy that strengthens financial resilience while supporting Stagecoach’s long-term transition to zero-emission transport.
