Smart Fleets Intelligent Energy
Enabling scale in grid constrained environments
The Future of Electrification in Netherlands
The growth of electric fleets is creating local power shortages. It’s time for a different approach.
Demand is Accelerating
Public pressure, regulation and financial incentives are pushing fleets to electrify at pace. With multiple sectors moving simultaneously, demand for vehicles, charging and energy infrastructure is increasing rapidly across the Netherlands.
Local Power Shortages
Grid constraints, connection delays and limited site capacity means the power available does not match current demand. This mismatch is creating bottlenecks that slow electrification, increase operational risk and force difficult trade-offs.
Scaling Requires a Different Approach
As demand outpaces supply, electrification can’t rely on traditional infrastructure alone. Fleets must design, build and operate around constraints using intelligent infrastructure, renewables, storage and smart energy management to make the most of available power in order to scale with confidence.
Built for constraints. Proven at scale.
VEV IQ is an intelligent charger and energy management platform specifically developed for commercial EV fleets.
It connects data from chargers, vehicles, and power systems into a unified software platform. Giving you complete visibility and control over charging, optimising energy use, reducing costs, and ensuring resilience.
Key benefits
- Load balancing & vehicle prioritisation
- Smart scheduling aligning energy use to operational need
- Microgrid optimisation
- Shared infrastructure management and billing
- Live insights into vehicles, chargers and energy assets
VEV-IQ allows you to electrify at pace
In the Netherlands, rising demand and limited available power requires a smarter approach.
Visibility
Understand demand as electrification accelerates
As fleets electrify, visibility across vehicles, chargers and infrastructure is essential to understand power demand and emerging constraints.
Control
Operate within grid limits
When the power available can’t keep pace with demand, intelligent control helps fleets manage charging and infrastructure reliably without slowing electrification.
Performance
Scale without compromise
Optimising energy infrastructure protects uptime, controls costs and supports sustainable fleet growth, even in power constrained environments.
End-to-end solutions
VEV delivers charging and energy infrastructure for electric fleets, from initial design through to build and commissioning. Our approach reduces delivery risk, protects uptime and ensures infrastructure is ready to support fleet electrification at scale.

Case Studies
Powering Stagecoach’s Electrification Strategy
Having already partnered with VEV for the rollout of charging infrastructure across multiple depots, Stagecoach also has trusted VEV to manage the procurement and optimisation of power, unlock cost savings and improve control over energy use across some of their electric fleet. This needed to be done without compromising vehicle readiness or operational reliability.
- Multi-depot energy optimisation across live electric bus operations.
- Intelligent charging aligned with wholesale energy markets.
- Additional savings delivered beyond an already-optimised contract.
- Guaranteed fleet readiness while reducing price volatility exposure.

Piloting eRCVs in Hampshire Councils
VEV provided the charging infrastructure and software management platform, VEV IQ, in a pilot of electric refuse collection vehicles (RCVs) with public service provider, Serco, and RVS, the independent refuse vehicle solution provider. VEV IQ monitored multiple parameters throughout the pilot to prove the operational feasibility and establish the business case for Serco to electrify refuse and recycling collection vehicles.
- Electric refuse collection vehicles completed routes successfully during the pilot.
- Drivers quickly adapted to eRCVs and preferred them to diesel vehicles.
- Carbon and fuel savings were demonstrated through real-world operations.
- The pilot proved the operational and financial case for electric waste fleets.
